Gorgeous and serious Premier Cru Burgundy at its finest. The powerful tannic style of Pommard is almost the evil twin of Volnay’s ethereal and light expressions - this bottle can handle the meat. In particular, Les Chanlins is a Premier Cru vineyard at the very southern end of the Pommard commune. Located on the steeper slopes of the Cote d'Or, the rocky vineyard makes a structured, full-bodied red wine with some spiciness. This bottle in particular sees just a little bit of used oak, only a little bit of whole cluster, and otherwise just lets the perfect fruit do the talking. Deep red, dark crimson-ruby hue. The nose is dominated by aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, redcurrant, cherry stone and ripe plum. Bottle age lends it notes of leather, chocolate and pepper. This wine requires time in order to reach its full potential and reveal its round texture and strong, virile structure. A remarkably rich wine.
